Bioactive Compound in Broccoli Has Anti-Prostate Cancer Effects

There are many reasons to eat broccoli. It’s nutritious, suppresses appetite, and lowers risk of diseases. Now, research shows that sulforaphane, a compound found in broccoli can help prevent prostate cancer and lower risk of colon cancer. This compound is also found in other cruciferous veggies including Brussels sprouts and cabbage.

It’s worth noting that young sprouts of broccoli have higher concentrations of this cancer-fighting compound. In fact, 3-day old broccoli sprouts have up to 50 times more anti-cancer compounds than mature broccoli (including sulforaphane).
