Nutrient Deficiencies Linked to Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects about 2.3 million people worldwide, with women being more frequently affected than men.1

The disease is the result of the immune system attacking the myelin sheath, the protective insulation that surrounds nerves. The actual cause of the disease is unknown, but many theories abound.

Interestingly enough, a new study shows certain nutrient deficiencies are more common in women with multiple sclerosis, putting into question the role that nutrition may have on the development of the disease.
